Dancing in the Evil City is set in Glasgow in the year 1974. The CD is set in a time when Glasgow was dominated by gang culture: "In packs like dogs they wandered around shouting Ya Bass we rule this town." Glasgow has always had a violent reputation, however the love and good will of the people, as everyone knows shines through.

The music from the novel, The Pop Festival, was recorded in Glasgow at the well-known Cava Music Studio Workshop. It features some of the best musicians from north of the border. The songs were written and composed by John A.Walker.

* * * *

Tonight at the Pop Festival the Silent Faces, along with many others in the 21st century, will try and understand time and its meaning; for they are all travelling back into the past, to the old Pop world. The Silent Faces before crossing the bridge on their way to the Pop Festival stop and look down at the water below, suddenly out of the blue one of them recites a poem to the others...

The music is dedicated to the men and women who fought and died at Cassino in Italy during the Second World War.

Saturday 15 April 1944: There are no latrine facilities. We use tins, etc. Most embarrassing and  repulsive, the place stinks. Sergeant and  I go down to GHQ. All day and all night we have to guard against snipers and fixed line Spandaus. Not allowed out during the day.

Sunday 16 April 1944: Cassino town is in ruins, every house is flat. The officer tells us that he expects  Jerry to attack. We get ready, no attack comes. We breathe normal again.

Thursday, 21 April 1944: We go back to C.H.Q. It is a relief to get away even if it is only 80 yards back . Forward platoon attacked by Jerry at 8 am. Guardsman Miller is killed, 5 other casualties.
